The long summer break will soon be here. What are your plans?  Swimming, picnics, outdoor play?  Hiking, biking and fun in the sun?  Visiting family? Ah, those lazy, hazy days of summer.  Don’t Skimp on Practicing.

“Summertime and the Livin’ is Easy”  Ah, the languid summer.

Today’s Grand Concert is the first in a series of events that mark the beginning of that magic time in the life of a kid…summertime!  We left school on the last day in June chanting, “No more school, no more books, no more teachers’ dirty looks.”  Not that my teachers were martinets and I loved school, but the unrelieved joy of freedom was wonderful.  There was nothing but months of glorious sun and play ahead.  Don’t you begin to feel the same?  Ah, but there’s that instrumental practice rearing its ugly head.  Will you take a summer break from lessons and practice, or carve out time for the maintenance of musical progress?
